Sergeant Shinde was a member of the 15th Quartermaster Company, 1st Cavalry Division. He was taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy in South Korea on July 25, 1950. He was reportedly murdered in a tunnel near Sunch'on, North Korea on October 20, 1950.
